Publishing Reality: Exploring Our Relationship with Today’s News
Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 5:00PM
with Mattia FERRARESI, New York correspondent for the Italian newspaper, Il Foglio, and Daniel PETTY, Director of Audience Development for Digital First Media
moderated by Timothy HERRMANN, A member of the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See at the UN
Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center and The Denver Post
We are inundated with news, information, and social media everywhere, all the time. We maybe forget that there are people that work every day to provide news as quickly as possible to accommodate the velocity of our routine and beat their competition. The job of a journalist is not an easy one. The news must be chosen, understood, elaborated, and finally published.
Surrounded by an infinite number of outlets and opinions, we still struggle to understand what is true. Sometimes we find ourselves reading a specific newspaper or ignoring a certain source just to reinforce an idea we have. Sometimes it looks like reality is only an excuse to support a previously developed point of view. In this jungle of information, we find ourselves even more lost and confused. How can we face this inevitable confusion and can news agencies help us? The event is open to the public and free of charge.About this Event
