Only Amazement Knows: An Astrophysicist on the Beauty of the Cosmos
Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 7:00PM
With Maria Elena MONZANI, Staff Scientist at the Kavli Institute for Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center
Fascination with the moon and the stars is documented at every stage of human history. In the last century, tremendous advances have improved our understanding of the evolution and content of the Universe. And yet, the same wonder and sense of mystery that drove the builders of Stonehenge is still very much a driver of modern research. In this talk, Dr. Monzani will share her experience as an astrophysicist looking for one of the most elusive components of the Universe, Dark Matter and about the experience of beauty in scientific work. The event is open to the public and free of charge.About this Event
