TERESA, Sr. Maria

Sr. Maria Teresa, CFRSr. Maria Teresa is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal, a community of religious sisters based in New York who live a simple Gospel life while serving the material and spiritual needs of the poor and engaging in works of evangelization.

Prior to entering the convent, Sr. Maria Teresa attended Boston College on a tennis scholarship. Her life took an unexpected turn her sophomore year after encountering Jesus in the Eucharist and in the poor on a mission trip to Honduras. After graduating with a degree in Political Science, she spent a year as a missionary in Honduras before entering religious life in 2005. Sr. Maria Teresa is currently the Local Servant (Superior) of Our Lady Queen of Angels Convent in East Harlem where the sisters have a soup kitchen, food and clothing pantry, and a youth ministry program.
