ROBBERTO, Massimo
Dr. Massimo Robberto is a Full Scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), where he joined in 1999. He is working within the Instrument Division as Instrument Scientist for NIRCAM, the near-infrared camera for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). His main expertise is the concept, development and operations of new infrared instrumentation, both for ground and space astronomy. He has conceived SPACE, a Dark Energy mission selected by ESA for the Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 assessment phase (he is also co-PI of the proposal). His other historic research field is Star Formation, the Orion Nebula in particular. Currently, his main scientific project is leading the HST Treasury Program on the Orion Nebula Cluster (GO10246), awarded with 104 orbits of HST time in Cycle 13 for the study of the Orion Nebula Cluster. This is the largest Hubble program ever dedicated to Star Formation and has produced one of the most beautiful images ever made by Hubble.
