POIRIER, Gregoire

Gregoire (Greg) Poirier is a credentialed Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers since 1995. Feeding an intellectual curiosity he received a Masters of Business Administration from L'Ecole de Management in Bordeaux, France.  Yes, as you may have guessed the program has a bit to do with the global wine trade.  A Wine MBA!

An entrepreneur with a background in wine, hospitality, & technology he is always looking ahead. Now he's on a quest to recognize and classify our best in class vineyards across America as Founder of The American Grand Cru Society. In spending months and years researching and traveling to the most important wine regions of the world (and tasting a bit of wine along the way) he believes simply that great wines come from great vineyards. That is just the way it is.

His background includes import/export, buying, and hosting private wine tours to Bordeaux for Calvert Woodley in Washington DC, and with private clients to Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and the Southern Rhone Valley.

Residing in the Washington D.C. area for much of his life, he likes to remind us that the region is consistently in the top 3 across the United States of America in wine consumption per capita!
