MARIANI, Andrea
Dr. Andrea Mariani was born in Carate Brianza, near Milano, Italy, on February 3, 1968
He is married with Raffaella and they have 4 kids.
Dr. Andrea Mariani graduated from the University of Milano in 1993. He specialized in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Milano in 1997. He then trained in gynecologic oncology and advanced gynecologic surgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota from 2002 to 2005. During this training, he obtained a Master in Gynecologic Oncology. He then performed one year of advanced laparoscopic and robotic training in different medical centers in Italy, in Lille, France, and in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2008 he moved to work to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Surgery, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he is still working as a full consultant and professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also the Chair in Research of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr Mariani has a special interest in robotic surgery. He is the responsible of the robotic surgery program in the Department of Gynecologic Surgery, and he is part of the Institutional Robotic Surgical Committee which, at Mayo Clinic, oversees the development of robotic practice both from a clinical, organizational, educational, and research point of view.
In 2006, Dr. Mariani was honored as a “Doctor in Gynecologic Oncology” at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands for his accomplishments in clinical research in endometrial cancer.
Dr Mariani is part of the selected group of individuals who generate National Guidelines for the management of uterine, cervical and vulvar cancer in the US (NCCN Guidelines).
Dr Mariani has been doing clinically oriented research on endometrial cancer since 1996.
He has been author or co-author of approximately 175 original scientific papers published on peer-reviewed journals. This extensive research has allowed Dr. Mariani to gain international recognition in the field of endometrial cancer. He has been invited to numerous national and international meetings and conferences on the topic. Also, Dr. Mariani is author or coauthor of book chapters, editorials, letters and numerous abstracts.
He is an active member of the American Association of Medicine and the Person.
