FITZGERALD, Michael
Michael Fitzgerald is a film producer and screen writer whose career began with the making of Wise Blood in 1979, based on the 1952 novel of Flannery O'Connor. Michael's parents were Sally and Robert Fitzgerald (Poet Laureate of the US and best known for his classical translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey) who were close friends of O'Connor's and the literary executors of her works. Michael says that having a poet for a father gave him as sense of what could be beautiful. Among his many acclaimed works are The Homesman (2014) starring and directed by Tommy Lee Jones, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005), and The Pledge (2001).
