The 2017 Albacete Lecture on Faith and Culture

"Disarming Beauty": A lecture on faith, truth, and freedom on the threshold of a new epoch

With Fr. Julián CARRÓN, Professor of Theology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan and President of the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center

The Second Annual Albacete Lecture on Faith and Culture will be given by Fr. Julián Carrón to honor the memory of Monsignor Lorenzo Albacete, soul, mind and mentor of Crossroads. In 2005, Father Carrón became the leader of the global ecclesial movement Communion and Liberation, following the death of its founder, Father Luigi Giussani. In the footsteps of his newly released book, Disarming Beauty, Fr. Carrón will offer a broad analysis of the pressing questions facing today’s society: the challenges of societal integration, the purpose of education, the difficulty of motivating young people, and developments in family life: Is it possible to find common ground in an increasingly polarized world? Is there a way for a true, wide-ranging dialogue with people from different backgrounds? What is the role of education in modern society? Is it possible to regain a sense of wonder and desire in front of life?

Grappling with the interaction of Christian faith and modern culture, Fr. Carrón invites the listeners to an ongoing conversation about the meaning of faith, truth, and freedom on the threshold of a new epoch.

The lecture is free and open to the public and will be in Spanish with simultaneous translation to English.

Limited seats. Reservation required
