The Audacity of Hope
A discussion on hope, healing and the relationship between physician and patient with Fr. Tullio PROSERPIO, Chaplain at the National Cancer Institute in Milan and Dr. Cristiano FERRARIO, Medical Oncologist Faculty of Medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Canada
Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center
The core of the medical profession—the relationship between patient and caregiver—is too often a mechanical process where the care of the patient is reduced to the treatment of solely his or her physical condition. This is particularly critical for cancer patients facing a life-changing diagnosis. However, in front of sickness and death, both patient and caregiver are confronted with fundamental questions: What is the meaning of this illness? Why is there pain and death? Is there a role for hope in this challenging circumstance? What are cancer patients and their caregivers ultimately hoping for?
Crossroads Houston invites you to a discussion with Fr. Tullio Proserpio, Chaplain at the National Cancer Institute in Milan, and Dr. Cristiano Ferrario, Medical Oncologist Faculty of Medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
A special welcome by Dr. Mauro Ferrari, President and CEO of Houston Methodist Research Institute.
The event is open to the public and free of charge.
