The Inaugural Albacete Lecture on Faith and Culture: “Culture as a By-Product”

A lecture on the origin, relevance, and aim of the Christian culture in a time of epochal changes

With Dr. Rémi Brague, Professor Emeritus of Arabic and Religious Philosophy at the Sorbonne, Paris, and Romano Guardini Chair of Philosophy (Emeritus) at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center

The inaugural Albacete Lecture on Faith and Culture will be given by the esteemed Dr. Rémi Brague to honor the memory of Monsignor Lorenzo Albacete, soul, mind and mentor of Crossroads, who chaired its advisory board from its establishment in 2007 until he passed away on October 24, 2014. In order to deepen his profound intuitions about the interaction of culture with religiosity and reason, and to follow his shining example of dialogue with people in various walks of life by meeting them at the level of human experience, Crossroads has established the “Albacete Lecture on Faith and Culture.” Its goal is to become an annual occasion and a meeting place, a “crossroads” where we can develop an understanding of why culture matters and where it finds its origin.

This goal will be precisely at the center of the inaugural lecture. Our society is facing epochal changes; Prof. Brague will look at similar times in history and address the origin and aim of the Christian culture and its renewed relevance for our society today.

The event is free and open to the public.
Limited seats. Reservation required
