Capturing the Moment: Secrets behind great scenes in great films

A presentation

with Richard PEPPERMAN ,Professor of the Art of Editing, School of Visual Arts, and Salvatore PETROSINO, Director, Film, Video and Animation Department, School of Visual Arts

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center

This presentation is about memorable movie moments. But what makes a scene memorable?

As Haskell Wexler said, the artistic process of making a film requires you to think as if you have to do everything, and then do what you are asked to do. In other words, you must have in mind a point of unity that allows you to see every detail in relation to the whole. Similarly, great scenes do not remain in our mind as a sequence of images or collection of details; they resonate in us because they reveal an underlying truth and its significance.

We are fortunate to learn from exceptional people who will unveil to us the secrets and the beauty of these moments.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.
