The Urgent Need for a Human Education
Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00PM
A discussion on the challenges of teaching and how to become protagonists in the field of education
With Marc LENZINI, Theology Department Head, Bishop Machebeuf High School, Denver, and Holly PETERSON, Ed.D., Religious Education Instructor at Christian Brothers High School, Sacramento, CA and Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco
Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center
The problem of education in the United States typically gets framed like this: Teachers are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated. Students are unengaged, overstimulated, and often underachieving. The 'system' is broken. So we ask, how does one engage the job of teaching in such a way that it helps the teacher while also proposing to the student a true introduction to reality? Dr. Holly Peterson and Marc Lenzini will share how they engage with the daily circumstances and challenges of teaching and how they have become protagonists in their work as teachers. The event is open to the public and free of charge.About this Event
