A presentation with Jeremiah HOLLAND, 14-year military veteran, Corcoran graduate, and award-winning artist, and Jane MILOSCH, Smithsonian curator, advisor to the Arts, Military + Healing (AMH) project
Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center
The final event of our three-part series, “Hope for Our Vets,” ushers in Advent with a question: What gives hope to humanity in these complex times? What corresponds to our indomitable desire to live with meaning, even when confronted with handicaps, suffering, and confusion?
Smithsonian curator Jane Milosch, who served as an advisor to the ambitious Arts, Military + Healing (AMH) project, will introduce us to the healing power of art and craft for U.S. veterans facing the challenges of returning to daily life, and describe the artist workshops, exhibitions, and events held in 2012 at locations across Washington D.C., including the former Corcoran College of Art + Design, Washington, D.C. Jane was also part of the PBS Craft in America series which focused on veterans in the arts and she will present clips of this documentary series.
Jeremiah Holland, a 14-year military veteran and Corcoran graduate, will discuss his life as a returning Marine and his work as an artist and furniture craftsman, bringing the discussion panel to a very personal level.
The event is open to the public and free of charge.
