Metro Chamber Orchestra Concert
Season Finale - Music of Haydn and Strauss.
A concert of the Metro Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Philip NUZZO, featuring Una Tone, violin; Christine Kim, cello; Christopher Vath, piano; and Therese Panicali, soprano
Presented by the Metro Chamber Orchestra
in association with Crossroads Cultural Center
Philip Nuzzo, artistic director of the Metro Chamber Orchestra, will present the final concert of the orchestra’s sixth season. Comprised of thirty extremely gifted players, many of whom are substitutes with the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera orchestra, the orchestra has, for the past 6 seasons, created a buzz based on their high standard of performance and unique programming.
The program of the April 25, 2009 concert includes Haydn’s Double Concerto for Piano and Violin, performed by Una Tone on the violin and Christopher Vath on the piano; Haydn’s Concerto in C featuring principal cellist Christine Kim; and Richard Strauss’ opera “Salome” the Dance of the Seven Veils and the Final Monologue, with soprano Therese Panicali singing the demanding final scene. In keeping with the orchestra’s tradition of presenting larger works re-orchestrated, these sections have been reduced for chamber orchestra by arrangers Kyle Lane and Jonathan Fields.
