We'll make you an informed American citizen
An essay discussing why 25 years of attempts at education reform have been essentially fruitless. Unfortunately it shares the exact same premises of the failed reformers: that education is just a matter of good public policy, of better allocation of resources etc., neglecting completely the human and cultural dimensions. The paradox of this kind of pragmatism is that it leads to un-pragmatic results (i.e. systemic failure) because it simply ignores reality (what education is about).
