Beliefs

Commonweal reviews a book by Antonio Monda

I love the idea of the book and hope to read it.

As for myself, I cannot explain in a manner that is satisfactory to others why I believe in God. I simply assume that He/She/It exists, as something more than intuitively obvious.

I am a person who needs sets of consistent, coherant, reasonable beliefs that cohere into a single worldview of life. Having been educated as a Catholic, I cannot conceive of living a life without belief in God. I would have to re-thing, re-evaluate, re-judge every experience, value and conclusion of my life. I can clearly see where some might say that my Catholicism is just a grandiose rationalization for the existence of God. I do not think it makes me a spineless conformist. I simply choose to believe.
