Reality does not matter

A notable difference between US and European politics is that while in Europe doctrinaire ideological thinking is found mostly on the "progressive" side (i.e. on the political left, after the demise of fascism and nazism), in the US one can find full-fledged conservative ideologues.

I was thinking that myself, about the conservatives in this country. They keep pounding McCain for not being a true Conservative. Their sole criteria for whether they support something or not is whether it conforms to the conservative ideology. I haven't had the time to read the article.
